Singapore tech firm LogChain is relocating its global headquarters to Liverpool. The UK government and local Merseyside leaders have welcomed the move, viewing it as a strong vote of confidence in the UK economy and digital trade.
LogChain has announced a £4 million investment over the next three years into the Liverpool City Region. The firm selected Liverpool for its robust trade, logistics infrastructure and its Freeport status. LogChain now joins over 1,000 digital and tech companies based in the city.
Specialising in digital documentation for supply chains, LogChain achieved a milestone in 2023 by successfully executing the very first goods shipment that was fully digitalised, between Burnley and Singapore, without any physical customs documents.
The announcement of LogChain’s move was made during UK-Southeast Asia Tech Week, an event aimed at strengthening tech collaborations between the UK and companies in the Asia-Pacific region.
Peter Kyle, the Business and Trade Secretary, said that the LogChain move validates the government’s Trade Strategy and its ambition for the UK to become the leading innovative trading nation. He stated:
“This move strengthens our tech ecosystem, boosts future exports, and shows the UK is the place to be for cutting edge digital trade.”
Steve Rotheram, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, said:
“Moves like this help bring good jobs to the region and strengthen our links with the rest of the world.”
