Housing expert credits positive state of the UK market

In an interview on the Move IQ podcast, the CEO of Propertymark, Nathan Emerson, discussed the state of the UK housing market.

He said that, despite fluctuating mortgage interest rates, the market remains resilient. There are plenty of homes available for sale, with first-time buyers making up 39% of transactions in some areas. Emerson has a positive outlook on the housing market, describing it in positive terms for both sellers and buyers. He stated:

“We’re entering the spring period with strong levels of activity already underway. Available housing stock has increased by around 100,000 properties, providing buyers with more choices while also keeping price growth realistic.”

Though short-term headlines about global events are alarming, Emerson urges people not to be deterred by them when making a major decision about moving home.

Emerson also spoke with the Move IQ podcast host, Phil Spencer, about the role of AI in home buying. Although AI is increasingly handling administrative tasks and communication, Emerson states that humans will continue to play vital roles in the home-buying process. Moving home is stressful, and human empathy and guidance from professionals, including estate agents and the removal service team, are essential. They guide buyers through complex home-buying transactions and protect their interests.
