The Mayor of Knowsley, Ken McGlashan, has officially opened Westlab’s new head office at Knowsley Business Park.
Westlab makes bath salt products, including Epsom Salts and Dead Sea Salts, which are sold in UK high street stores and online retailers. Its packaging and production facilities have moved from Guildford to Knowsley.
Westlab’s move to Merseyside has created 70 jobs for local people. They had originally planned to recruit 50 local workers, but were so impressed by the quality of local people that they hired 20 more than expected.
The CEO of Westlab, Sean Daly, said that he looked at around 20 potential sites for a new headquarters in the North, and found that the best location was in Knowsley, with its good transport links close to the motorway network and access to skilled workers. He said:
“We’re very happy we’ve picked this site, very really happy with the help we’ve had from the council, from Invest Knowsley, they’ve been brilliant with us.”
Westlab plans to double in size over the next three years. High-profile billboard and TV adverts are helping to grow its share of both the domestic and overseas markets. Sales of its bath salts are particularly strong in Canada.
