Government plans for AI to help you move home

The UK government is exploring how artificial intelligence (AI) agents that perform routine admin tasks can help when moving home.

The government are inviting companies working with AI to explore with the government how artificial intelligence (AI) agents can help people deal with life’s milestones, including finding a job, an educational course or upgrading skills. When moving, AI agents could update documents such as driving licences for citizens. AI could register household members with a GP and put family members on the electoral register. Furthermore, AI technology could save hours when dealing with many agencies and government departments when moving home.

Peter Kyle, UK Technology Secretary, said:

“We can entirely rethink and reshape how public services help people through crucial life moments using the power of emerging AI technology.”

The government aims to trial AI technology by 2027 so that it can test and find the best way to use AI agents. Peter Kyle wants this to be a joint project between government AI teams and independent AI developers.

The Technology Secretary stressed that though government AI agents can save many hours of admin work, their use will be optional, with individuals free to not use them.

The government plans to launch AI technology in small stages with continuous evaluations and tests to make sure that the technology is accurate and reliable.

AI can help you organise moving home, but cannot transport your possessions for you. For that, you’ll need the services of a company like us at Merseyside Movers & Storers, the leading Liverpool removals company.
