How to create a time capsule in a storage facility

A time capsule is your personal history vault that captures the essence of your life. Though many chronicle their lives on social media such as Facebook, some prefer physical objects that remind them of their lives. Unlike digital information, touching physical objects that remind us of another place and time is special.

Though it is called a capsule, this can be a secure chest or sturdy box. Kept in a storage unit, it is a repository of items that remind you of significant events in your life.

The contents of your time capsule can include newspapers or magazines containing articles that remind you of times when extraordinary events occurred in life. Write a letter to your future self or friends and relatives who will open the time capsule in the future.

Put photographs in the capsule of memorable events such as births, marriages, graduations, birthdays and special holidays. You may choose to add photos of the significant relationships in your life, including friends, family and partners. Include examples of technology that influenced your life like smartphones, iPods and tablets. Put your favourite childhood toys, DVDs and books you love in the capsule.

You could keep the time capsule at home or bury it in the garden, but using a storage unit is safer and more secure. The capsule can be kept until your older self or your family in the future wants a reminder of your significant life.
