Moving house can be stressful, especially when it comes to transporting valuable and fragile items. However, there is a simple trick to keep them safe during the move, and it costs very little.
You could invest in expensive bubble wrap or other specialized equipment to keep items safe. These often work just fine, but there is another way you should consider too. All you need are towels, soft toys, packing tape and boxes. Most families moving home will already have bath towels, hand towels and toys.
Firstly, create a soft, stable base by placing a large, folded towel at the bottom of the box. Next, wrap each fragile item in a towel and secure it with packing tape. Place each item in the box, surrounded by soft plush toys to protect them.
When the box is nearly full, add more towels on top and seal the box with packing tape. Finally, mark the box clearly with “FRAGILE” and “THIS SIDE UP” to alert the removal team to take extra care with the box and keep it the right way up. It may also be good to mark the box with the name of the room where the fragile items belong, so that you don’t have to move it before unpacking.
