How to pack toys when moving

Moving home can be an emotionally challenging time for smaller children, especially if they are moving away from their friends and going to an unfamiliar school. One way to ensure this transition goes as smoothly as possible is by ensuring their favourite toys arrive safe and sound at the new home.

Before packing toys check that they have all their pieces, and no parts are missing. For electronic toys like game consoles, make sure that all the leads, controllers and accessories are together.

If possible, pack toys in their original packaging, which will help protect them in transit.

Clean toys before packing so that they arrive in good condition. Wrap toys in bubble wrap or towels to protect them before putting them in boxes. Add extra layers of protective or corrugated cardboard if packing several toys in one box. Don’t pack too many toys in one box so that it is too heavy.

Tape boxes firmly closed with strong packing tape. Mark on each box of toys what is in them and which children’s bedroom they belong to. If you have more than one child, you may choose to pack each child’s toys together. When you arrive at your new home, you can then let them surround themselves with their familiar belongings.

You could, alternatively, leave the toy packing to us at Merseyside Movers & Storers. Our house removals team in Merseyside will take care of them so they arrive safely at the new home ready for them to be played with by your kids.
