Initiative offers money for moving to Ireland

The Irish government is currently providing grants of up to £80,000 through the “Our Living Islands” initiative. This program seeks to encourage individuals to relocate to one of thirty scarcely populated islands to increase its population and invigorate its economy.

The cash offer as part of the initiative, which was introduced in summer last year, is subject to certain conditions and eligibility criteria. It is exclusively available to those who pledge to purchase and restore residential properties on the islands. As there are no bridges connecting the islands, all construction materials and labour must be transported by boat.

To qualify for this grant, the property purchased must have been vacant for a minimum of two years and constructed in or before 1993. The funds offered by the Irish government can only be used to improve the home through better insulation, redecoration, structural improvements and other enhancements.

For those who prefer not to reside on a secluded island, other regions in the Republic of Ireland have a lot to offer. Housing costs are comparatively lower than in the UK, but the cost of living remains high. Employment prospects are good, especially in the Dublin area. However, an Employment Visa is required for non-EU nationals. Ireland has been praised as an area to live for boasting a diverse cultural heritage, hospitable locals and breathtaking natural landscapes.
