New figures reveal increasing cost of moving home

Compare My Move has released its annual cost of moving index, which has risen by 30% over the last twelve months.

The main reasons for the rise are an increase in stamp duty of 29.6%, buyers conveyancing fees rising by 18.7% and estate agency fees, which cost 74.4% more. However, some costs involved in moving home have been reduced. Conveyancing costs for sellers and survey fees are down, and removal service costs have been reduced.

Compare My Move says that the extra moving costs may put some people off moving home. However, if mortgage interest rates fall in 2024, this could encourage more people to move.

Some people are tempted to use cut-price removal services to save money on removal costs. However, the cheapest quote may not be the wisest choice. Sometimes a quote does not include hidden extra charges which are added on the moving day. A simple man and van service may not have the expertise and specialised equipment to move fragile, large and valuable items. On the other hand, Merseyside Movers & Storers are a Liverpool removal company with a team of removal experts with many years of experience in the industry.

Merseyside Movers & Storers is a member of Compare My Move’s network of verified and trusted removal companies that will reliably move your belongings when moving home. When we provide a quote, we believe in transparency so that you know exactly how much the move will cost.
