A report by Compare My Move has calculated that the cost of the average house removal fell by 4.25% in the second quarter of 2024.
The third fiscal quarter of the year is a popular time to move and the Managing Director of Compare My Move, Dave Sayee, predicts that there will be a strong demand for removals services. Removal costs could rise due to extra demand, but competition between removal services could restrict price increases.
The cost of house removals varies considerably depending on distance, the number of belongings that need transporting and other factors. A basic and less expensive moving package transports your goods to your new home. However, you’ll have to pack everything yourself. A premium package includes the removal company packing things as well as transport.
According to the home selling website Zoopla, the average basic removal cost for a 3-bedroom home move of fifteen miles is £800, but a 4-bedroom home move of a long distance with a packing service can cost on average around £1,800.
Zoopla warns that a quote from a removal service can exclude hidden costs and extra services. It is important to search for a company that quotes a fixed price so that the customer knows exactly what the move will cost.
