One Move Away is a new video game being developed by Ramage Games that simulates moving house, emphasising the skill of packing.
The game follows three characters who are relocating. They must decide which of their possessions to keep and which to discard. The kept items are then loaded into a van, with the aim of maximising space by turning and twisting belongings to make the most of the available area. Poor packing can cause piles of items to come crashing down. Fortunately, in the game, nothing gets damaged; there are only time penalties for errors.
Additional challenges include keeping disassembled furniture pieces such as sofas together and fitting in bonus items. Points are awarded for packing skills of both vans and car boots.
Game reviewer Martin Heath from Game Grin tried an early preview version of the game. His first impressions were positive:
“Based on the few levels I played, One Move Away was an enjoyable experience, even if the amount of stuff these characters wanted to move bordered on the ridiculous.”
He mentioned that the core gameplay reminds him of Tetris, and he looks forward to the final release, although a specific date has not yet been announced.
One Move Away offers a fun and challenging way to pack goods in a virtual environment for a house move. In real life, most people find packing a tedious chore and not very enjoyable. At Merseyside Movers & Storers, we ease that burden by handling the packing for house removals in Liverpool and beyond.
