A fully functioning pop-up pub has been erected in a unit for self storage in the London area of Bermondsey.
There are many reasons to rent a self-storage unit. These include decluttering whilst a home is being renovated, storing seasonal business stock, or keeping valuables safe. Perhaps the most unusual reason is to open a pub in a unit, which a newly launched storage facility did in one of its 200 sq ft units.
The micro pop-up pub was open for one night only and dispensed Southwark Brewing Company’s “Attic Ale”, a limited-edition craft beer brewed especially for the pub in a storage unit. The pub had a fully working bar and served many people on its opening day, seated at tables or standing,
Representative for the storage company, Sophie Bagnall, explained:
“People use our storage units for all sorts of belongings and treasures, but turning one into a fully functioning pub for the night was a first. “
She said that Bermondsey is known for having an excellent beer scene within London, and providing the local Attic Ale in the micropub was the perfect way to demonstrate how much space is available in one of their units.
The pub was opened to publicise the new storage facility and show the versatility of storage units.
