Reduce stress with a moving calendar

Moving home is often very stressful with so much to organise. A checklist of things to do helps, but a better way is to create a calendar of actions so that it’s clear when each item needs doing.

Focus only on the current day’s tasks to prevent feeling overwhelmed, making moving less stressful. Though each task has a scheduled time, don’t worry if the odd task becomes overdue. A calendar is a guide, not a strict schedule.

When creating your moving calendar, the first time frame to concentrate on is six to four weeks before moving. Schedule at least one task per day during this period. For instance, mark dates to source a moving company, arrange insurance for the new home and research the best utility deals. Start organising your possessions, giving away or selling things you don’t need.

The next period to schedule is two weeks before the move. This is the time to start packing non-essentials, informing everybody you know about your new address and finalising arrangements with the moving company.

Next, fill in tasks from the week before until the day of the move. Don’t forget the parking arrangements for the removal company, gathering essential items in boxes and finalising packing. For Liverpool, Formby or St Helens removals, ask us at Merseyside Movers & Storers to pack for you.

The final tasks are on the day of moving. Say goodbye to the old home, then schedule a hello toast to the new one with a mug of tea or a glass of champagne!
