Six unconventional packing tips for moving home

Moving home can be stressful, but there are a number of ways you can make life a little easier for yourself. With this in mind, here are six handy, but slightly less well-known tips that can make packing easier.

1. Non-essentials first

Start packing early with non-essential items you don’t need until after the move. For instance, if you are moving in the summer, pack winter clothes first.

2. Keep items in drawers

There is no need to empty drawers if you are planning to take them with you. Remove them and wrap them in a bin bag for protection.

3. Don’t take clothes off hangers

Clothes can be left on hangers and covered in a bin bag, then put straight back into the wardrobe after the move.

4. Photograph the back of the TV

If several items are plugged into the back of the television take a photo with your phone so that you will easily know which wire goes into which socket. Label all the cables to identify which gadgets they belong to. Use a similar strategy for a hi-fi system or a computer with wired peripherals.

5. Pack day one essential items

There are several essential items you need to access as soon as you arrive at your new home. These include a kettle for that important first brew, food, toiletries, and a change of clothes.

6, Leave it to us

The final tip is to forget about doing all the packing yourself. For house removals in the Liverpool area, ask us at Merseyside Movers & Storers to pack for you. Our expert packing teams have all the experience, equipment and packing materials to make sure your belongings arrive safely.
