Security expert Ant Hebblethwaite has outlined his views on how artificial intelligence (AI) will be used to increase the security levels of storage facilities in a talk he gave recently at The Movers and Storers show.
One of the primary roles of AI will be to spot suspicious behaviour. AI can be used to analyse video feeds from inside and outside of buildings. Face recognition systems can spot unauthorised people in or near the storage facility.
Vehicle number recognition may be used to spot cars and vans that appear to be acting suspiciously. AI products can spot a door left open that should be closed, or know if a keypad has been tampered with.
AI monitoring outdoor areas can tell the difference between animals such as dogs, cats and foxes from people, so that motion sensor alarms are not triggered by non-humans
Other potential capabilities include monitoring human behaviour to spot aggressive acts that are outside normal behaviour patterns. While AI can report suspicious activities, human operators will still be needed to investigate incidents and report them to the police if necessary.
Ant Hebblethwaite says that fully automated AI systems will not appear in all storage facilities soon, but more facilities will start implementing some forms of AI to increase security.
Fortunately, secure storage facilities in the UK often don’t require AI to keep items safe. If you need storage facilities in St Helens or Liverpool, your items will be safe with Merseyside Movers & Storers. Speak to our team now to find out how we can help.
